A New Dawn is the directorial debut of Japanese animator Yoshitoshi Shinomiya. It's representing Japan in the Berlin Film Festival's main competition. The story is less successful than the visuals, relying too much on dialogue and exposition, but it's still a strong entry into the animation world.
